Why are we raising funds?
A couple of years ago we had a new Church roof installed after years of wear and tear. Last year we had the ceiling inside the church repaired to prevent damp and redecorated, and our car park was resurfaced for which we raised funds. Our next big expense is to save up for a new boiler which will cost in the region of £35,000.
So what is “The Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Wilfrid’s Social and Fundraising Group”? (Social and Fundraising Group for short!)
We would like to think it’s everyone in the Parish and everyone can help even in a small way. Please do come and join us! Our meetings take place in the Church Hall on a monthly basis in the evening mid-week where we discuss and plan our fundraising activities throughout the year.
All ideas are welcome and considered. Coming together to plan our events is a social occasion in itself and once or twice a year we plan a couple of events that is purely social like a Christmas Supper or Talent Show.
From recycling clothing or selling homemade preserves to Spring/Summer/Christmas Fairs and Quiz Nights – it’s all hands to the pumps to raise money to maintain our Church buildings!
There is much to do and we always need more help so why not come along? Meeting dates are advertised in the Newsletter and on the website Calendar.
Even if you’re unable to come to the meeting we would love to hear about your ideas or any thoughts you may have, so please do contact us via the ‘Contact Us‘ web page.
We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
